Ghana has today Friday May 7, 2021 received 350,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative is by COVAX and supervised by UNICEF.
The vaccines, which were allocated to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), were sent to Ghana after the DRC failed to utilize these vaccines weeks after they took delivery of them.
It was received at the Kotoka International Airport by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Health Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari.
It is recalled that, in February this year, Ghana took delivery of the first batch of 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca from India. So far, the country has vaccinated 849,527 people.
